North Victory Baptist Church is a daughter church of First Filipino Baptist Church. It started as a small Cell Group Bible study called Victory Cell Jr. (VCJ) In August of 1999, VCJ held its first meeting in the home of Dina Turla and Gene Cardinal at the corner of Yonge and Steeles in Toronto, Ontario. It started with 8 adults, 2 children and 2 visitors. The group was led by Alexander Ibay and Jubi Camba. The group grew so fast in a couple of years, and many of the new members came from Kowloon Baptist Church (Hong Kong). This prompted the group to pray for the Lord’s leading to a possibility of church planting. By the end of 2003, the average attendance was around 35 per meeting. In September 2003, the leaders formally shared their vision of forming a church with Pastor Eliezer Catanus and the Elders of FFBC, who gladly gave their approval. In July 2004, VCJ was officially commissioned by FFBC to establish a new church in the northern part of Toronto, with Pastor Henry Manansala as the lead. P. Henry is married to Chinky, and they are blessed with 2 sons, Kyle and Mark. In January 2005, the group, now called North Victory Baptist Church (NVBC), held its first worship service in William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate (Allen Road and Sheppard). In 2012, the Lord blessed NVBC with its first chapel building in 432 Rogers Road, Toronto. Then in 2017, it found its current home in 1067 Glencairn Ave., North York. The life verse of NVBC is, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 15:57.
